saved records continues their busy release schedule towards the close of 2009 with one of their strongest packages to date, a release from marc ashken and matt tolfrey. between them, the duo have released tracks on respected labels such as cocoon, perc trax, crosstown rebels, viva, and matts label leftroom. for their saved release, the duo present >babygirl<, an amazing deep house track, which is layered with deep twisted vocals and is sure to destroy the dance floors over the christmas clubbing period and right into 2010.
alongside the original on the a-side is a remix from none other than legend derrick carter. known for being one of the best underground house djs and producers on the planet, derricks incredible remix keeps the deep, grooving feel that the original possesses and includes the vocals which he has edited to great effect. alongside his sharp use of hi-hats to keep the track flowing, the track drops into and back out of the bass line to create a great end product.
on the flipside, the second remix comes from amsterdam based artist, daniel sanchez. the bla bla label owner delivers an amazing take on the track, presenting a much more stripped down and ambient result, perfect for warming the night up with.

mark grusane and mike cole are better known as the owners of mr peabodys records (store) in chicago. this track was taken from the primitive house trax cd they put out in small numbers. this early nineties track very much reminds us of the true chicago house sound… raw and sweaty! this will be available as a special limited edition.

after the success of their collaboration with paul thomas on last years festival anthem >arena<, mark knight and funkagenda join forces once again on one of the most eagerly anticipated tracks showcased at this years miami wmc.
>good times< is the feel good anthem of the summer comprising of a modest intro with a warbling bass line driving slowly through collecting sounds, before opening up into an edgy synth stab and finally the insanely catchy vocal hook >these are the good times<! the track drops back in like a speeding locomotive train going full steam ahead, with cleverly placed percussion, fx and siren sounds soaring to create an intense rhythm.
on the flip, >flauta magica< shows the diversity of these two acclaimed producers when they get in the studio together. taking a different route from the lead track and concentrating more on the groove, >flauta magica< chugs along nicely with an almost tribal percussive feel to it. the excellent chanting vox sample, reminiscent of the early house sound, keeps the groove rolling along into the drop. taking the lead from the tracks name, a whistling flute riff drops elevating the musical vibe to a new balearic level.

we are sure harry immediately stopped munching the sofa and started dancing when hearing this tune by fusiphorm and mark-henning. and the flip with a remix by digitaline is as tasty as the original with a twisted flavor. yummi!

here we go with mark-henningÆs 2nd ep on frankie recs, 3 years after his promising first strike on the label. a two tracker ep titled ôvick for president epö - we start off with the a-side ôbiggity giggityö - a track of pure madness! comprising a mix of quirky sounds and distord harmonics synths, this is a great example of markÆs ability to combine both a solid groove and a dark atmosphere at the same time.. this song definitely kills it on the floor! on the flipside ômonsterö is even darker and more mental - combining subtle synths arrangements and bleepy fxs sounds itÆs perfect for late sessionsà two beautifully sinister, outstanding cuts!

the next remix project on the list for fergies excentric music imprint are two new interpretations of his fat track - question mark. on the a side yousef gives us a funky driving, classy rework with an awesome groove, tight percussion and big room feel. on the flipside there is a very clever interpretation from dan doran and antonio menez with its shuffled minimal groove and catchy synth hooks. another great package.

asd008 sees the return of alex krueger and a welcome one at that! this oneÆs 5 tracks deep (including a digital exclusive) and includes a pair of fine remixes from londoner-in-berlin, mark henning, ôblasted bitchö is tigerskin at his best. the title cut is a feast of sonic trickery, with sounds playing off each other beautifully to create a wide, dense soundscape which, paired with clipped percussion, clever dancefloor arrangement, evil laugh & crude vocal sample this one delivers tough. henning, a man known for his abilities with sound design himself, takes a darker route with his interpretation which, while still driving, is more of a heads down late night affair û riddled with oddball delays and some unnerving vox efx. ôwhat theö takes a turn to the darkside, moody, sharp, reveb laden and pulsing, the track is real heavy business watch out for that unholy belgian hardcore synth riff a la ômentasmö, thereÆs a real æmomentÆ in there. to round off the original cuts. responseö continues seeing tigerskin provide a straighter groove but one which displays some sterling keyboard work and strong break. finally, henning provides another remix of the title track as the digital only addition all too important these days. futuristic deep, tech-house is about as close as a description anyone needs for this superb final piece of an equally superb package.

in 2002, carl craig was at the centre of a collaboration between some of detroits most talented musicians old and new, including motown session players percy hughes and ron otis - the result of which was the spellbinding detroit experiment. one of the highlights of this session was their re-interpretation of donald byrd and larry mizells classic think twice, which was transformed into a sublime and unique jazz-house hybrid by this disparate ensemble of techno and r&b heavyweights. to continue the theme laid down by the detroit experiment, we have enlisted the skills of the multi-talented henrik schwarz - no stranger to fusing musical styles. his amazing remix effortlessly combines organic and electronic elements, to create a stirring piece of modern electronic dance music which has already taken the roof off parties across europe and the us, with pre-release plays from djs as diverse as ame, giles smith, justin martin, dixon and kev beadle.
